Terms of Service

Who can use it

• You must be 13 or older to create an account. In Québec, you must be 14 or older.
• If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they must agree to these terms and make any payment.
• One account per person. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your password to yourself.

Your username

Your username is public on the leaderboard. We may change or remove one that impersonates someone, is abusive or hateful, or contains personal information.

Free and premium

The daily puzzles and Carnivore are free. Premium unlocks the archive of past puzzles, unlimited puzzles on every game, and custom Carnivore boards. There are two ways to get it:

• Monthly — $3.29 CAD a month. Renews automatically on the same date each month until you cancel. Cancel any time from Account → Billing; you keep premium until the end of the month you've paid for, and you're not charged again.
• Lifetime — $29.99 CAD once. Premium for as long as the site runs, with no renewal. If you have a monthly subscription when you buy it, the subscription is cancelled automatically. It's tied to your account and can't be transferred.

Prices are in Canadian dollars. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never reach us. If a monthly payment fails, premium pauses until it succeeds — nothing is deleted.

No refunds

All payments are final. We don't give refunds or credits for monthly subscriptions (including unused time after you cancel) or for lifetime purchases. The full details, and the few cases where we will put a mistake right, are in the Refund Policy. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

Price changes

If the monthly price changes, current subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email and can cancel before the new price applies. A price change never affects a lifetime purchase already made.

Promo codes

Codes grant premium on the terms of that code. They have no cash value, can't be sold or exchanged for money, and can be withdrawn if shared beyond their intended use. Premium already granted in good faith stays.

Playing fair

Everyone gets the same puzzle each day, so the leaderboard only means something if it's honest. Don't use bots or scripts, don't try to read answers out of the site, don't submit fake scores, and don't make extra accounts for more attempts or more codes. Solving with a friend or a dictionary is fine — it's a game.

Found a security hole? Please email us before telling anyone else. We'll thank you, not come after you.

Suspending accounts

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right. Premium paid for on an account closed for breaking these terms isn't refunded.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account whenever you like from Account → Data & privacy, or see Delete my data. It's immediate and permanent, and any monthly subscription is cancelled at the same time. Deleting an account doesn't refund past payments.

If the site shuts down

We'll give at least 30 days' notice on the site and by email, cancel every subscription so nobody is charged again, and keep the data download working until the last day. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of the site — please don't buy it expecting a one-person project to run forever.

What's ours

The games, puzzles, words, code and design belong to us. Please don't copy the site or republish the puzzles as your own. Sharing your results — the emoji grid, a screenshot, your score — is welcome.

Limits

The site is provided as it is. We can't promise it will never be down, never have a bug, or never lose a day's progress. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything connected with the site is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some consumer protections — including under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 — can't be excluded, and nothing here tries to.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes. For significant changes — price, cancelling, refunds, what happens to your data — we'll email account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the new terms; if you don't, you can cancel and delete your account.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If you're a consumer somewhere else, you keep any rights the law where you live gives you.
