Terms of use

Don't Think! is run by David Alonzi as an individual, in Ontario, Canada. Using the site means agreeing to what's below. It's written to be understood — where a term matters to you, it says so plainly rather than hiding in a wall of capital letters.

Your account

You need to be 13 or older. One account per person. Keep your password to yourself — anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

Your username is public on the leaderboard, so choose accordingly. I can change or remove a username that impersonates someone, is abusive, or is chosen to mislead.

The subscription

Premium costs $3.29 CAD a month and unlocks the archive of past puzzles and unlimited mode on every game. The daily puzzles stay free.

  • It renews automatically every month until you cancel. You're charged on the same date each month.
  • Cancel any time from Account → Billing. Cancelling stops the next charge; your premium runs to the end of the month you've already paid for.
  • No partial refunds for time unused. If something has actually gone wrong, email me — I'd rather sort it out than argue about two dollars.
  • If a payment fails, premium pauses until it goes through. Nothing is deleted, and your streaks are untouched.

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own page and never reach this site. If the price ever changes, existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email and can cancel before it takes effect.

Buying it outright

Instead of subscribing you can pay $29.99 CAD once for permanent premium. No renewal, nothing to cancel, and the price rising later doesn't affect you.

  • If you already subscribe and then buy it outright, your subscription is cancelled automatically so you stop being charged.
  • Refundable within 14 days of purchase if you change your mind — email me. After that it's yours and the payment is final.
  • It's tied to your account and can't be sold or transferred.

“Lifetime” means for as long as the site runs. If it ever shuts down, see Ending things below — I'm not going to pretend a one-person project is guaranteed forever, and you shouldn't buy it on that basis.

Playing fair

Everyone gets the same puzzle on the same day, which only means anything if the leaderboard is honest. So: don't use bots or scripts, don't try to read answers out of the site, and don't make extra accounts to get more attempts or more codes.

Solving a puzzle with a friend, or with a dictionary, is not cheating — it's a game, enjoy it however you like. Automating it, or breaking into the parts of the site that hold the answers, is.

If you find a genuine security hole, please email me before telling anyone else. I'll thank you properly rather than come after you.

Codes

Promo codes grant premium on the terms attached to the individual code. They have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and can be withdrawn if a code is shared more widely than intended. Premium already granted to someone who redeemed a code in good faith stays granted.

Ending things

You can delete your account whenever you like, from Account → Data & privacy. It's immediate and permanent, including your play history and streaks. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first so you aren't charged again.

I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If you were a paying subscriber and hadn't done anything wrong, I'll refund the current month.

If the site shuts down: I'll give at least 30 days' notice, cancel every subscription so nobody is charged again, and keep the data export working right up to the last day so you can take your history with you. Anyone who bought lifetime premium within the previous 12 months gets a pro-rata refund — you paid for years, and it would not be right to keep all of it for months.

What's yours and what's mine

The games, puzzles, wording and design are mine. Please don't copy the site wholesale or republish the puzzle content as your own. Sharing your results — the emoji grid, a screenshot, your score — is entirely welcome and rather the point.

The honest limits

This is a small site run by one person. It's offered as it is: I can't promise it will never be down, never have a bug, and never lose a day's progress, and I don't have a support team. What I can promise is that I'll fix what I can and tell you the truth about what I can't.

To the extent the law allows, my liability for anything connected to the site is limited to what you've paid in the last 12 months. Some consumer protections can't be signed away, and nothing here tries to — including under Ontario's consumer protection law, which applies to you whatever this page says.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. For anything significant — the price, how cancelling works, what happens to your data — I'll tell subscribers by email before it takes effect, not after.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes belong to the courts of Ontario. If you're a consumer elsewhere, this doesn't take away rights you have where you live.
